Two MK businesses hit hot 100

Sunday Times Buyout Track 100 - MK CommerceMilton Keynes has two firms featured in a list of Britain’s top 100 private equity-backed companies, measured by profit growth over the last two years of available accounts. 

Schools operator Cognita, based in Fox Milne, was the top Milton Keynes business, weighing in at number 31 on the Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100.

Cognita showed over 50% growth and recorded profits in excess of £26million in August 2009. The company was 81% owned by Begal Capital, with the management holding the balance of the shares, and had  2,937 employees.

Blakelands-based food producer and distributor Adelie Food ranked at number 47. It recorded growth nudging 40% up to £12.8million in October 2009 and is almost 50/50 owned by its management and Duke Street Capital.
